A fantastic way to be a part of specific aesthetic communities or trends is through utilising usernames on social media and nicknames in everyday life. Use these for games, profiles, brands and even social networks as well as nicknames for you and your friends.

In the early 2000’s, nicknames were very popular, and with the increasing interest in the late 90’s and early 00’s, it is easy for us to believe that nicknames will make a resurgence. On top of this, the largescale use of social media today provides the opportunity of assuming these small token names as usernames.

In some cases, you may even utilise this list in assisting the naming of your brand – especially one that at least dips its toes in the Goblincore community. Whether it be an Etsy store, a clothing store, a tattoo parlour or a trinket store, these names could be perfect for you.

What is Goblincore?

Goblincore is an aesthetic community based on appreciating the underappreciated and “ugly” side of nature. Those within this community will see the value in, and enjoy, natural elements such as frogs, snails, moss, mud, and fungi.

This trend originates from the “ugliness” of the Goblin; this mythical creature, prevalent in European folklore, is known to be malevolent and thieving. The small beings represent the carefree infatuation with nature’s ugly side and unpredictability.

A large element (an quite possibly our favourite) of the Goblincore aesthetic is the desire and tendency to collect (hoard) small objects – that are often also shiny. Many within the community coined these items as “shinies”.

As well as being closely involved with Cottagecore, Crowcore and Dragoncore, this aesthetic community is popular among the LGBTQ+ community, predominately those who are non-binary, transgender and demigender.
