In the new year, you may be looking for a new makeup look, so we’ve got it covered for you!
No matter you’re aesthetic – Cottagecore, Grunge, Fairycore, or Minimalist, you can rest assured you can find the perfect makeup look for every day!
We promise you won’t need a lot of products or spend hundreds of dollars. Simply buy a few staple items that work with what you want, and go from there.
Soft Grunge
Although we are a Cottagecore blog, we are obsessed with a soft grunge look at the moment – it’s perfect for winter. Begin with a natural base using your favorite foundation (or, if you want to, skip the foundation altogether!), and add a small touch of concealer to any spots or dark areas you need a little coverage.
Bronze your cheeks lightly, and add a touch of blush – you don’t want to go overboard with either of these for this look. Just enough to sculpt the face.
For the eyes, there are a few options: a thick eyeliner with a bronze shade through the crease; a smoked liner; or a dark brown smokey eye (rather than the traditional black). These are all super simple to complete and are perfect for any Grungy outfit.
For lips, use a light brown nude rather than something peachy and pink.
Finally, finish the look by adding some fake freckles.
Minimalist
For this look, the goal is to use the least amount of products and accentuate your natural beauty. To achieve this, the only products you should need are primer, concealer, liquid blush, eyebrow gel, mascara, and a lip tint.
Begin your look with a hydrating and highlighting primer (though be sure to avoid those with glitter, that is NOT natural!) all over your face. This will help give you a glowing, luminous appearance under the rest of your makeup, and avoid the use of a really bright highlighter that is less natural.
Place concealer anywhere you need it (acne, etc.) as well as a dab on the under eyes, on the bridge of the nose, in between the brows, and on your chin. Add some liquid blush to your cheeks and on the bridge of your nose for a beautiful sun-kissed look. Don’t add too much, just enough to make yourself feel more confident.
To finish the look, add brow gel to your brows to set them into place and make them fluffier before using your favorite mascara.
Cottagecore
The ultimate Cottagecore-inspired makeup look is super simple – the main thing to remember is to opt for peach tones and illuminating products.
After completing your skincare routine, go for an illuminating primer and a low-coverage foundation. Low-coverage concealer is important for this as Cottagecore is all about promoting natural beauty.
For the rest of the base, add a light brush of bronzer on the cheekbones, temples, and nose. If you’re looking for a very simple everyday look without eyeshadow, you can also add some bronzer to your crease to add a little dimension. After you’ve finished your bronzer, you can go in with a blush. Make sure the blush is peachy, and add it over the cheeks and bridge of the nose.
- Keep in mind, we highly suggest liquid blush and bronzer for this look!
Add a small wing to your eye as well as pink-toned eyeshadows. For a more formal look, add a glittery pink or cream-colored shadow on the lid for an extra pop. Lastly, choose a lip tint or a pink lipstick with lip gloss over the top.
Fairycore
Fairycore is very similar to Cottagecore – the only difference is the eyes, freckles, and the use of highlighter.
Do the same base as the Cottagecore makeup look, but add a bright highlighter to the tip of your nose, your inner corner, your cupid’s bow, and your cheekbones. Use an eyebrow pencil or eyeshadow in a small brush to add freckles over your nose and cheeks to make you look softer and more natural.
For your eyes, many Fairycore community members will heavily use eyeliner and mascara, with a white liner on the waterline to give the appearance of bigger eyes. Either has no eye shadow on the lids, or a simple bronze or peach through the crease.
