To wrap your fresh flowers together, and keep them from stabbing your scalp, you will need some floral tape. Typically you will find this tape in green, brown, and other neutral colours so they blend in with your chosen blooms.
Scissors
We will be using tape, flowers and wire, so a nice sharp pair of scissors are essential for this DIY!
Craft Wire
While you can get pre-cut wire, we suggest you opt for a roll of craft wire so you can measure the exact amount you need for each step. This will ensure your flower crown fits your head.
Wire/Twine

Step-By-Step
Step 1: Shape the Wire
To get the exact size for the base wire, simply wrap it around your head. We suggest leaving around 1 1/2 inches extra for safety – you can always cut this off later. Form a circle and secure the ends together with the floral tape.
Sometimes we will wrap the wire 2-3 times around our head, instead of just once. This will allow for more space to rest the flowers and give a more secure hold.
Tip: If you are planning to wear the flower crown for a special occasion, be sure to measure the length of wire with your planned hairstyle – it may sit differently with different hairstyles.
Step 2: Add Greenery
Using your floral tape to secure, begin wrapping some of your greenery around the crown’s base. Depending on your desired look, you may choose different greenery. For a delicate crown, you can opt for something like myrtle which is more subtle. If you want a more dramatic crown, you may opt for leather leaf or dusty miller that are fuller greens.
Tip: If you wish to focus on flowers, you can actually skip this step and simply add more flowers.
Step 3: Bunches of Flowers
Next, you will need to start creating mini-flower bunches by selecting three blooms and wrapping their stems together with the floral tape. It ensure they are secure, make sure the tape is wrapped from the flower’s base to the very bottom of the stems.
For a balanced design, we suggest combining a statement flower with two filler flowers. You will need about eight bunches before starting the next step.
Step 4: Attach the Flowers
Grab one of your flower bunches and use either floral tape or craft wire to secure the stems to your crown. To create a seamless crown, you will want to stack the blooms over each bunch. Continue layering the bunches until you have your desired look.
Tip: If you want a more dramatic crown, you can add your statement flowers in the centre and filling out the edges with filler flowers.

How To Keep Your Flower Crown Fresh
If you need to make your flower crown in advance, we recommend storing it in the fridge right after you make it – also ensure it does not get squished by anything else in the fridge. When you are ready to wear it, simply spray it with some water to refresh the flowers.
